We've been quiet lately because we've been busy creating something new for and with our artists. Life is and has always been an exercise in constant change. The profoundly awakening days and months we've all experienced of late are perhaps an opening in the clouds showing us how to truly embrace and evoke real and powerful change.
We are thrilled to announce a newly-formed rebranding as Monica King Projects. We will launch three exciting initiatives this year, including a future series of traveling exhibitions (maybe a city near you?), a more vital online platform, and an artist-in-residency based on an intimate two-acre forested creative retreat in Litchfield County, CT. We have chosen to close the brick and mortar space in Tribeca, as we believe that a more nimble program is a better format to support emerging art, at least in the current moment. While we, too, loved the grotto, it is but a state of mind.
As we navigated uncharted waters of how to exhibit and view artwork during the pandemic, it became clear to us that we needed a more agile path forward. We envision a new model for a "gallery" that is creatively fluid and can bring diverse exhibitions to cities around the world where our collectors are based (or spending time, as the case is these days), alongside an incubator for our artists to experience respite and unbridled creativity. 2021 will see a new path that aims to further our unwavering mission to support emerging and established artists, and present their work in a dynamic and multi-dimensional way that is not tethered to one location or city-and that does not shy away from constant reinvention. Much like art itself ...
We look forward to sharing this journey with you.
